Van Driver Found Guilty of Manslaughter After Fatal E-Bike Crash
Ryan Willicombe, 19, from Newbury, was convicted of manslaughter for the death of Sheldon Lewcock following a nearly four-week trial at Reading Crown Court on 8 May.
Guilty of Death by Dangerous Driving, Not Murder
Willicombe, who had already pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving on 21 March, was found not guilty of murder and attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH) against Kayden Williams.
Fatal Crash on Pierces Hill
The tragedy happened at about 6.10pm on 4 August 2022. Sheldon and Kayden were riding e-bikes when Willicombe’s van crossed into the wrong side of the road and struck Sheldon.
Sheldon was rushed to hospital but sadly died five days later.
Arrest and Upcoming Sentence
Willicombe was arrested the next day and formally charged on 27 May 2023. Sentencing is pending and will be set at a later date.
