Tragic Crash in Eltham Claims Pregnant Woman and Unborn Baby
A heartbreaking tribute has appeared at the site of a fatal collision on the A20 near Kidbrooke Park Road in Eltham. The smash involved an unmarked police car and left a 38-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child dead.
Emergency Rush and Road Closure
London’s emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, raced to the scene. The road remained shut for over 12 hours as teams battled to manage the chaos. Sadly, the pregnant woman found inside one of the vehicles did not survive, nor did her unborn baby.
Heartfelt Tribute Laid at the Scene
A touching bouquet of white flowers stands against the railings, accompanied by a lone candle. The note reads:
“My deepest thoughts are with you and your baby, your family and friends. The most awful tragedy that should never have happened. Rest in peace beautiful and your baby.”
A local resident told us, “We rushed out after hearing loud bangs. It was pure chaos. My heart goes out to the woman’s family.”
Police Officers Hospitalised but Released
Police confirmed two officers inside the unmarked car were taken to hospital but have now been discharged. The Metropolitan Police have passed the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for investigation.
Road Closure to Continue – Take Care
Authorities urge drivers to avoid the A20 near Kidbrooke Park Road while the closure remains in place today. Plan alternative routes to avoid delays.
