Eve was hiking with a male companion on Friday, 12 January, when the pair accidentally veered off the designated path near the village of El Chorro. Emergency services confirmed that Eve fell from a significant height in the Swiss Sector, close to the Arabic Staircase pathway. Her companion survived by clinging to a bush after the fall.
