Shocking Revenge Plot! A 39-year-old mum has been jailed for 16 years after trying to kill her two kids in a chilling act of revenge. She drugged her 10-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter after her husband admitted to having an affair.

In February 2024, following her husband’s departure for another woman, the distressed mother stockpiled powerful meds in their uckfield/" title="Uckfield" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Uckfield home.
She secretly slipped a deadly mix of painkillers, antidepressants, and sleeping tablets into her children’s drinks before tucking them into bed.
Then, she left a haunting voicemail for her brother claiming her husband’s betrayal pushed her to end both her own life and those of her children.
Emergency Rescue After Horror Discovery
Police, paramedics, and firefighters rushed to the scene after hearing the distressing message. Paramedics found the boy motionless on his bed covered in vomit, initially thinking he was dead. Meanwhile, his 13-year-old sister was found dazed and confused, wandering the house.
The mother, staggeringly slurring her words, was also taken from the bedroom. All three were rushed to hospital where the children received lifesaving treatment and survived.
Judge Slams ‘Selfish’ Mum’s Motive
At Lewes Crown Court, Judge Christine Laing KC condemned the mother’s actions. She said:
“I am satisfied your own sense of being wronged and your concern about your standing in the eyes of your family, friends, and local community far outweighed your concern for your children.”
“You tried to end the lives of your two children to punish [your husband], a terribly selfish reaction which you still fail to see the seriousness of.”
The judge handed down two 16-year sentences, to run concurrently.
Harrowing Court Details
Prosecutor Amy Packham revealed the mum’s suicide voicemail blamed her husband’s affair:
“The reason why I had to end my and my children’s lives is because of these people. My children are very smart and intelligent, but because of those two, we are going to commit suicide.”
A paramedic at the scene described the boy as “motionless with eyes wide open, unresponsive, and barely breathing.” His sister collapsed and vomited en route to hospital.
Lasting Damage to Kids
The court heard both children will suffer severe and ongoing psychological harm. They face a lifetime haunted by their own mother’s terrifying attempt to kill them.
Defence Falls Flat
The mum’s lawyer said she had a depressive episode affecting her judgment and showed remorse. But the judge rejected this, blaming her obsession with a perfect family image for driving the premeditated crime.
Justice Served
The mother begins a 16-year prison stretch, bringing some relief to the traumatised children, now safe with relatives under strict safeguarding measures.
