Faversham Man Charged Over Spate of Vehicle Thefts and Shoplifting
Crime Wave Hits Faversham
A 26-year-old man from Faversham has been hit with multiple charges following a spree of vehicle interference and shoplifting incidents across the town.
Kent Police launched an investigation after several thefts and disturbances were reported starting Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Targets included cars in the Lakeside Avenue area, where personal items were stolen from one vehicle.
Shop Worker Assaulted in Bold Theft
On Wednesday, March 26, bottles of alcohol were taken from a business in Market Place. The theft turned violent when a shop worker was assaulted during the incident.
Police swiftly arrested Billy Bird, 26, from Elverland Lane, Ospringe, on Friday, April 4.
Charges Filed Against Billy Bird
On Sunday, April 6, Bird was formally charged with:
- Theft from a motor vehicle
- Vehicle interference
- Theft
- Assault
He also faces charges for three separate supermarket shoplifting incidents in Faversham, occurring between Tuesday, March 11, and Friday, April 4. The stolen goods are valued at roughly £650.
Court Date Set
Billy Bird is set to appear at Thanet Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 13.

“We take reports of theft and violence seriously. Our officers acted promptly to investigate the incidents and ensure community safety. We encourage anyone with further information to come forward,” a Kent Police spokesperson said.
