A major stretch of the A46 near Witham St Hughs remains shut after a serious crash, with police warning the road could stay closed until the early hours.

Both Carriageways Closed After Life-Changing Crash

Lincolnshire Police confirmed that both northbound and southbound lanes between Witham St Hughs and Newark Showground are blocked. The smash, described as life-changing by officers, sparked extensive closures between the Pennels and Halfway House roundabouts.

Emergency Crews Locked On Scene

Specialist collision investigators are still working at the scene. Police have yet to reveal how many vehicles were involved or the number of casualties. Motorists are urged to avoid the area as diversions remain in place overnight.

“This is a very serious collision, and we are working closely with partner agencies to manage the scene and support those involved. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we carry out our investigation,” said a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson.
