A major section of the A46 remains closed following a serious collision near Witham St Hughs, with police warning the road is likely to be shut until the early hours of the morning.
Lincolnshire Police confirmed that both the northbound and southbound carriageways between Witham St Hughs and Newark Showground have been closed as emergency services deal with the aftermath of the crash.
The incident, described by police as life-changing, occurred earlier today and has led to extensive road closures between the Pennels and Halfway House roundabouts.
Ongoing Emergency Response
Specialist collision investigators remain on scene as part of the ongoing response, and police have not yet confirmed how many vehicles were involved or the number of people injured.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area, and diversions are expected to remain in place overnight.
