Hornchurch Man Caught Sending Explicit Messages to Child
A 27-year-old man from Hornchurch has been sentenced for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor after sending a string of disturbing messages over a week.
Daniel Duhig’s Shocking Chats Revealed
Daniel Duhig, from Hyland Way, admitted to messaging a girl he believed was underage between December 28, 2023, and January 5, 2024. His explicit texts included questions about her virginity, relationship status, and disturbing invites to “join her in bed.”
The vile messages were discovered during an online child grooming investigation.
Six Months Jail Suspended at Barkingside Court
Duhig appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on May 19 where he was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
- 100 hours of unpaid community work
- 30 days of compulsory rehabilitation activities
He is also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for seven years.
Safeguarding Officer Sounds Alarm
“The messages were deeply inappropriate and predatory,” said a safeguarding officer present at the hearing.
The case is a stark warning on the dangers of online exploitation, highlighting the crucial need for monitoring adult-minor digital communications.
