Man Arrested After Fatal Stabbing in Lewisham

Overview

 

A murder investigation has been launched after a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death at a residential property in Monson Road, New Cross.

Police were called to the address at 19:26hrs on Saturday evening following reports of a man with stab injuries. Officers, London Ambulance Service crews, and London Air Ambulance medics attended the scene and provided emergency medical care.

Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder a short time later. He remains in police custody.

Murder Probe Underway

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this difficult time.
I understand this incident will be concerning and we are carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation to establish the circumstances.
I would encourage anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.”
