Hate Crime Shocks Spen Valley Greenway

Kirklees CID is hunting witnesses after a nasty assault rocked Spen Valley Greenway near Kwik Fit and Asda on Wednesday, 6 April.

Two Men Attack Lone Walker

Between 7pm and 8pm, two males confronted a lone man strolling along the path. They hurled verbal abuse before launching a violent attack, leaving the victim shaken and with minor injuries.

Police have classified the incident as a hate crime due to offensive remarks made by the suspects.

Suspect Descriptions Released

  • Suspect One: Black male, about 6ft tall, slim build, shaved head with a moustache. Seen wearing a dark blue hoodie, black joggers, white trainers, and a distinctive ear stretcher.
  • Suspect Two: Asian male, roughly 6ft tall, slim with a shaved head and stubble. Dressed in blue jeans and a dark top.

Witnesses say two people on push bikes approached during the attack, causing the suspects to flee.

Police Appeal for Witnesses
