Police reveal the victim and her friends were reportedly offered drugs before the shock attack at Manchester’s Bloom nightclub on Wednesday.
Suspect arrested then bailed
A man was arrested on suspicion of rape but has now been released on bail as the investigation continues.
Controversy over bar staff response
Superintendent Christopher Downey told a Manchester City Council licensing meeting that after the victim said she didn’t want police involvement, staff let the attacker leave the venue.
It was only when the woman’s friend eventually called the police that an arrest was made.
Bloom club closes doors amid probe
The Bloom Street nightclub is temporarily shut while police carry out their inquiries. The club insists it is “working with police and providing all assistance possible.”
