Midnight Mugging in Chatham Ends in Brutal Stabbing

Two violent thugs have been locked up for nearly 17 years after a terrifying midnight robbery in Chatham turned deadly. The victim, a man in his 50s, was ambushed outside friends’ house in Luton on 20 February 2024. He was forced to hand over £100 and his phone under threat – but when he claimed he had no more cash, the attackers plunged a knife into him repeatedly.

Despite the savage assault, the man miraculously survived and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Knife-Wielding Criminals Caught Fast

Less than 48 hours later, police cracked the case wide open. Detectives pored over CCTV footage and tracked down the culprits: 34-year-old Aakeem Kelliot and 41-year-old Max Alexander, both homeless and armed. Kelliot admitted wounding with intent, while Alexander was convicted of robbery at Maidstone Crown Court.

Jail Sentences Slammed Down for Attackers

On 14 October 2025, Kelliot was sentenced to 10 years and 4 months behind bars. Alexander received six years and six months. Both face long stays in prison for their violent crime.

DS Richard Taylor said: “This was a violent assault on an unsuspecting man. He didn’t expect to be stabbed, and it’s only by chance his injuries weren’t fatal. Kelliot and Alexander used violence to steal from him but were swiftly caught by Medway detectives. Their miscalculation landed them lengthy prison terms.”
