The ugly fracas erupted on 23rd July 2022 when Amjad Faqy and Twana Gharib turned up at Royal Blackburn Hospital with stab injuries. Both said they were attacked during a clash involving Bilbas Tahir and others.

Police launched an immediate probe after CCTV from the nearby Go Outdoors store on Throstle Street showed the shocking scene.

Guilty Pleas Earn Prison Sentences
At Preston Crown Court, 43-year-old Bilbas Tahir of Woodlea Road, 52-year-old Amjad Faqy from Bombay Street, and 35-year-old homeless Twana Gharib all pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
Sentences handed down this week: Tahir: 23 months Gharib: 21 months Faqy: 20 months
Det Con Matthew Gallagher, Lancashire Police: “This was a serious outbreak of disorder in a public place in Blackburn. Weapons were used, and people were injured. We take all reports of violence seriously and will bring offenders to justice.”
