Dewsbury town centre erupted into chaos yesterday afternoon when hooded youths confronted each other with machetes on busy Foundry Street. Shoppers stopped dead in their tracks as a violent knife fight played out in broad daylight. Footage captured the terrifying scene, showing several menacing figures brandishing large blades while stunned bystanders watched in disbelief.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Frightened members of the public quickly dialled 999 as the melee spilled down the high street. Police arrived fast, including armed officers and a helicopter circling overhead, to restore order. West Yorkshire Police confirmed: “At 3.27pm officers were called to Foundry Street in Dewsbury to reports people were fighting in the street with machetes.”
No Injuries but Investigation Underway
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. A spokesperson said: “Armed police attended, all was in order, and no injuries have been reported. Enquiries are ongoing.” The shocking daylight violence has left locals shaken and raised concerns over knife crime in the area.
