Tragic Motorcycle Crash in Spennymoor Claims Man’s Life
Anthony Inwood, 35, lost his life after a horror collision on Durham Road, Spennymoor, yesterday afternoon. The dad was riding a Honda CRF 250 when he crashed head-on with a Hyundai i10 travelling the opposite way at around 3:30pm.
Rushed to Hospital but Sadly Dies
He was rushed to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with critical injuries but tragically died later that evening. The driver of the car suffered only minor injuries.
Family Pay Heartbreaking Tribute
Anthony’s family released a moving statement: “Our world has been turned upside down by the loss of Anthony – he was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. We are heartbroken for his two beautiful daughters who lost their dad on Christmas Day. His death has left a huge hole in everyone’s heart, and we ask to be left alone to grieve in peace.”
Investigation Ongoing – Witnesses Urgently Needed
- A 16-year-old boy, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was arrested but has now been released under investigation.
- The motorcycle was part of a convoy and another red bike fled the scene. Police want to locate the rider(s) of this second motorcycle.
- Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
