Fire at Family Home Turns Fatal
Fatoumatta Hydara, 28, and her young daughters, Fatimah Drammeh, 3, and Naeemah Drammeh, just 1, were tragically killed in a deliberate fire at their home on Fairisle Close, Clifton, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police and fire investigators confirmed the blaze was started on purpose. A triple murder inquiry is now underway, with detectives questioning a 31-year-old man from Clifton.
Police Hunt for Answers
Detectives are working round the clock, scouring the scene for forensic evidence, gathering witness statements, and reviewing CCTV footage. Neighbourhood Inspector Karl Thomas vowed: “No stone is being left unturned to bring justice for this family.”
The horrific crime has deeply shaken the Clifton community, sparking an outpouring of support. Flowers, balloons, and fundraisers have sprung up in memory of the victims, a sign of the area’s tight-knit spirit.
Investigation Details and Appeals
Inspector Thomas confirmed the man in custody is being questioned, with police seeking to extend his detention. “While inquiries are moving fast, there is currently no indication that this is a hate crime,” he added.
The police are urging anyone with information about the fire, especially anyone who was on the streets in Clifton between midnight and 4.30am on Sunday, to come forward, no matter how small their tip may be.
