A young boy was rushed to hospital after breaking his leg while trying to get onto a school playing field on the Isle of Wight.

Air Ambulance Scrambles to Scene

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was called in after the boy’s fall just after 6:15pm on Friday. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service made a quick assessment before calling in specialist doctors aboard the air ambulance.

Firefighters Cut Access Behind Locked Gates

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service from Shanklin were dispatched to help medics reach the boy, who was trapped behind locked gates at Broadlea Primary School.

Youngster Transported to St Mary’s Hospital

After being freed, the boy was taken by land ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
