Elderly Man Stabbed to Death in Greenford
Tragedy struck Greenford on Tuesday afternoon when an elderly man was found fatally stabbed on Cayton Road. At 4.06pm on August 16, police, ambulance crews, and fire brigade rushed to the scene after reports of a man with stab wounds.
The victim, believed to be in his 80s and riding a mobility scooter, was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics’ best efforts. Police are desperately trying to contact his next of kin.
No Arrests Yet — Police Seek Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “My officers are working to understand what happened to this man. We need the public’s assistance.”
He urged anyone with dash cam or cycle helmet footage from the Western Avenue A40 Eastbound near Cayton Road and Welland Gardens between 3.15pm and 4.15pm to come forward. “It is critical that you make contact if you saw the victim or anyone acting suspiciously in the area,” he added.
Community on Edge as Police Crack Down
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, Ealing’s policing lead, spoke about the incident’s impact: “This is a terrible incident that will understandably cause widespread concern among residents in the area. Our hearts go out to the elderly victim.”
He confirmed officers are supporting the Specialist Crime team to find those responsible. “The public’s support is critical,” Wilson said. “Police and the community must work together to identify and remove violent offenders from our streets.”
