Man and Woman Arrested in Dalston Murder Probe
A 33-year-old man was arrested in Birmingham early on Saturday, 15 May, on suspicion of murder. A 38-year-old woman was also held, accused of assisting an offender. Both remain in custody as the investigation continues.
Two Others Released Amid Murder Inquiry
Earlier, a 14-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man were arrested on Thursday, 13 May, for conspiracy to commit murder. They have since been released under investigation.
Police Hunting Witnesses After Fatal Shooting
The murder probe was launched after shots rang out in Gillett Square, Dalston, just before 1am on Saturday, 8 May. Officers arrived to find 31-year-old Patrick Anzy badly wounded. Despite emergency crews’ best efforts, Patrick was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem on Tuesday, 11 May, confirmed he died from gunshot wounds. His family have been informed and formal ID carried out.
Detective Pleads for Crucial Witnesses to Come Forward
“We would like to thank West Midlands Police for their help with the latest arrests,” said Detective Inspector Andy McDonald. “I’m keen to speak to anyone who was near Gillett Square or Boleyn Road at the time of the shooting. Someone out there may have seen or heard something vital.”
He added, “Even the smallest detail could help bring justice to Patrick’s family. Anyone with information, including those in Birmingham, should contact police or Crimestoppers immediately.”
