Ex-Councillor Gerard White Found Dead in Suspected Isle of Wight Murder
Gerard “Gerry” White, a well-known former Isle of Wight councillor and landlord, has been named as the victim of a shocking murder on Monday. The popular ex-Conservative council figure, who represented Lake North, was discovered dead in woodland between Lake and Shanklin.
Man Arrested Over Murder
Police have arrested a man in connection with Gerry White’s death. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. Locals knew Gerry best as the landlord of The Stag Inn, a beloved village hub in Lake.
Tributes Pour In from Lake Parish Council
Michael Tain, Clerk to Lake Parish Council, expressed deep sorrow over Gerry’s sudden death. He said:
“Lake Parish Council was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Gerry White, a former councillor, Chairman in 2016-17, and a dedicated representative of Lake.”
He added, “Gerry contributed much to the village, both as a councillor and an entrepreneur, and was a stalwart in the local Rotary. The Parish Council offers its condolences to his wife and family.”
