London Care Worker Busted with £100K Cocaine at Jamaica Airport
Lewisham care worker Mitzie Graham, 53, has been arrested at Jamaica’s Norman Manley International Airport. She faces serious allegations of trying to smuggle over £100,000 worth of cocaine into London.
Cocaine Hidden in Drink Powder Tins
The arrest happened on January 18 as Mitzie tried to board a flight back to London. Officials found around 4.8 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside tins of Lasco powdered drink mix in her luggage. The drugs are valued at roughly £114,000.
Family Insist She’s Innocent, Claims of a Setup
Mitzie’s family and friends are adamant she was tricked into carrying the tins. They claim someone else asked her to transport the drink powder, and that person has reportedly been recorded admitting the tins belonged to them.
“When presented with the evidence, my heart sank, and I just remember cold sweats taking over my body. I just blanked out,” Mitzie said, according to a crowdfunding page set up by her sister Karlene Watson in Sydenham.
Single Mom, Diabetic – Appeal Launched for Help
Karlene described Mitzie as a single mother who travelled to Jamaica at Christmas to visit her wheelchair-bound son. She’s known for her generosity, often bringing Caribbean treats back to friends in the UK.
Mitzie requires multiple daily insulin shots for her diabetes and urgently needs medical and financial support. The fundraising drive has so far raised just over £2,800.
Protests Demand Justice, Foreign Office Stays Silent
Since the news broke, protests have erupted in Lewisham calling for Mitzie’s immediate release and a fair trial. However, the Foreign Office says it cannot assist as she is not a British citizen.
Jamaican authorities have yet to comment on the case or Mitzie’s status, leaving her fate hanging in the balance as the investigation continues.
