Teen in Critical Condition after Oxford Stabbing – Two Arrested
A teenager is fighting for his life after a brutal stabbing on Cowley Road, Oxford. The 18-year-old was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital with life-threatening injuries this afternoon.
Shocking Scene Outside Sainsbury’s
Witnesses reported seeing the young victim lying motionless on the ground. One said a friend told them the teenager had been “stabbed in the heart by a knife.” Security guard Danny Boulahneche, working at the nearby Sainsbury’s, revealed:
“I do not want to see this at all. Nobody wants to see somebody get stabbed. His friend told me he had been stabbed right in the heart.”
He added: “I rang the police straight away. I didn’t see the stabbing happen. He was definitely a teenager – maybe coming home from school.”
Police Cordons and Emergency Response
Thames Valley Police confirmed the road is partially closed from Union Street to James Street. Officers scrambled to the scene shortly before 3pm, setting up cordons and starting investigations.
South Central Ambulance spokesman David Gallagher said:
“We were called at 2.46pm about a serious assault on an 18-year-old male. A rapid response vehicle and ambulance were sent immediately. He was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in a serious, life-threatening condition.”
Local Reaction as Police Investigate
Carl Smithson, manager of nearby Truck Store record shop, described seeing police and emergency crews in action:
“I saw someone lying on the ground surrounded by people near Sainsbury’s. There were two police cars, a van, and an ambulance. Police are clearing the area now.”
Thames Valley Police’s Oxford Twitter warned locals at 3.23pm:
“We are dealing with a police incident on Cowley Road. Road closures are currently in place.”
Two Arrested – Investigation Underway
Police have arrested two people in connection with the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing, and officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
