Drunk Driver Causes Horror Crash on A1(M) – Woman Seriously Injured, Family Dog Killed

The crash left one occupant with spinal injuries. Heartbreakingly, the victim’s family dog didn’t survive the impact.

When police from the Roads Policing Unit arrived, Webster tried to flee, darting across four live lanes of traffic. Officers caught her quickly and took her into custody.

Inspector Kev Salter said: “Webster showed a complete disregard for the safety of others when she chose to get behind the wheel drunk. As a result, one woman suffered serious injuries and also lost her beloved dog.

“Driving under the influence is a leading cause of death on County Durham and Darlington roads — and it’s totally preventable. If you choose to drink and drive, be warned, we will hunt you down to stop further tragedy.”

Guilty Plea Sees Webster Jailed – Banned from Driving for Over Three Years

Webster, from Dixon Way, Coundon, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital before facing charges of dangerous driving, driving without insurance or licence, and assaulting an emergency worker.

She pleaded guilty at Durham Crown Court on May 13 and was sentenced to 12 months in prison. On top of that, she’s banned from the roads for three years and six months.
