Uxbridge Couple Jailed Over Brutal Baseball Bat Attack

James White, 22, and Crystal Culhane, 22, both from Uxbridge, have been sentenced for a savage attack that left a man fighting for his life. White was locked up for 11 years, while Culhane escaped immediate jail with a two-year suspended sentence. The Old Bailey handed down the punishments on Friday, 8 January.

Planned Attack on ‘Date Night’ Ends in Brutality

White and Culhane, who were on a reunion date after years apart, plotted to attack a 33-year-old man — Culhane’s then-partner. Using phone calls and texts, Culhane lured the victim to Dovedale Close, Harefield, in the early hours of 18 August 2019.

Once there, White launched a ferocious assault, beating the man multiple times with a baseball bat until he was left unconscious in the street. CCTV footage showed the victim distracted on a call with Culhane before the savage attack struck.

Victim Left in Critical Condition

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition by the London Ambulance Service. His injuries were so severe that he still cannot remember the attack.

Detectives moved fast. A warrant at White’s home uncovered blood-stained clothing matching CCTV evidence and witness reports. Culhane was arrested the same day while trying to visit the victim in hospital.

Police Praise Public and Urge Vigilance

Detective Sergeant Jaspal Bains said: “This was a horrible and senseless attack that left the victim critically injured. White’s violent nature made it crucial we caught him quickly to prevent further harm. I hope this sentence sends a strong message.”

“I’d also like to thank the public for coming forward with key information, and the London Ambulance Service and Hillingdon officers for their support at the scene. If you see someone in trouble, call the police — your action could save a life.”
