Sajid Najeeb Jailed for Exploiting Children on Social Media
Sajid Najeeb, 37, from Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, was locked up for three years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday (29 August). He admitted to three counts of sexual communication with a child and three counts of making indecent photos or pseudo-photos of children.
Horrific Online Abuse Spanned Over a Year
Between March 2023 and April 2024, Najeeb used social media to target multiple young survivors. He bombarded girls with messages, repeatedly asking to meet and pushing them into sexual conversations. Some victims were pressured into sending explicit videos.
Arrested After Trying to Hide Evidence
Officers arrested Najeeb at his home on 29 April 2024. When questioned, he claimed he didn’t own a mobile phone. But police traced a phone number and rang it, hearing it buzz from under his mattress. The hidden phone was seized as key evidence.
Child Exploitation Team Brings Predator to Justice
The Child Exploitation Team (CET) worked tirelessly to identify and support the victims after reviewing Najeeb’s phone. Officers visited every survivor, providing ongoing care alongside partner agencies.
Detective Constable Kate Callaghan said: “Najeeb was persistent in exploiting vulnerable children. Thanks to our proactive efforts, we gathered enough evidence to send him to prison and protect those he harmed.”
