Swindon Man Jailed for Brutal Child Sex Crimes

Phillip Lewis, 41, from The Cullerns, Swindon, has been found guilty of multiple horrific sex offences against a child. The jury at Oxford Crown Court handed down a unanimous guilty verdict after a chilling trial that ended on 11 October.

Years of Abuse Uncovered

During the 2010s, Lewis groomed and sexually abused a young victim over several years in Oxfordshire. He was convicted of one count of child rape, three counts of sexual assault of a child, assault by penetration, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Lengthy Prison Sentence and Lifetime Register Order

Back in court for sentencing, Lewis was slammed with 14 years behind bars. He must also sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring he remains under close watch.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage

“The nature of Lewis’s offending was horrendous, and the victim has shown tremendous bravery and resilience in coming forward and reporting this,” said Detective Constable Phillipa Metcalfe of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit.

“Lewis will now serve a lengthy sentence. I would encourage anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence to come forward and report it.”

“You will be listened to and supported by experienced officers and staff.”
