Man Knocked Out Cold After Brutal High Street Attack
Ashley Liddie, 39, delivered a savage kick to a man’s head in Fletton High Street, leaving him unconscious on the evening of April 17, 2021.
Fight Follows Clash at Local Working Men’s Club
Liddie and his mate, Marc Parcell, 37, had been at a function at Fletton Working Men’s Club in Peterborough. The victim and his friend had left after a fight broke out in the beer garden — only for Liddie and Parcell to follow them.
Both men launched an attack on the victim. Liddie’s brutal kick to the head knocked the man out cold. The second victim was also attacked but managed to hide, escaping serious injury.
Victim Hospitalised With Brain Injury
The next morning, the first victim became dangerously ill and was rushed to Peterborough City Hospital. Surgeons discovered a bleed on his brain and had to remove part of his skull. He was left with 50 stitches in his head.
Court Sends Attackers Behind Bars
Police identified Liddie and Parcell via CCTV footage and arrested them. Last Friday at Peterborough Crown Court, Liddie of Morton Close, Hampton Gardens, Peterborough, was sentenced to five years and three months for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Parcell, from Green End Road, Sawtry, pleaded guilty to affray and was jailed for 12 weeks, to be served concurrently with another sentence.
