Portsmouth Man Charged Over Red Lion Pub Stabbing
Sammy Philpott Faces Serious Charges
Sammy Philpott, 36, from Eastern Road, Portsmouth, has been hit with two counts of Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent. He also faces two charges of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Philpott was locked up and is set to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, 29th October).
Other Suspects Released Amid Ongoing Probe
A 40-year-old man from Chichester, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder linked to the stabbing, has been freed on conditional police bail as enquiries continue. Another suspect, a 34-year-old Portsmouth man, was also arrested but released with no further action.
Stabbing Incident Rocked Red Lion Car Park
- The attack happened on 25th October 2021 at 5:43pm.
- Police were called after a man was stabbed in the car park of the Red Lion pub.
- The primary victim, a 27-year-old Portsmouth man, remains in stable condition at 1 General Hospital.
- A second victim, 39, also from Portsmouth, suffered injuries to his back and face.
- He was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital and has since been discharged.
