Albanian Man Faces Fifth UK Deportation After Trailer Stowaway Bust
Romeo Zani, 32, is on the brink of deportation again after being caught hiding in the back of a trailer in the UK. This marks his fifth attempt to enter the country illegally since 2017.
Persistent Illegal Attempts to Sneak into UK
- First flagged by Border Force nine years ago when he entered in the back of a lorry.
- Previously worked illegally in the UK.
- Also tried to slip in by yacht in Falmouth.
- Served multiple jail sentences for immigration offences.
Two-Year Prison Sentence for Flouting Deportation Order
Newcastle Crown Court heard Zani admitted breaching his indefinite deportation order. Recorder Nicholas Worsley branded his actions a “blatant attempt to flout deportation.”
“Such crimes undermine the fabric of society and enable criminality,” warned Recorder Worsley.
Caught Secretly Heading to Nissan Factory
Zani was found sealed inside a trailer en route to Sunderland’s Nissan plant. He claimed he paid £5,000 to get from Albania through Belgium, saying his life was at risk back home.
