A brutal rapist and robber has been found guilty after a horrifying attack at a woman’s own home.

Knife, Metal Bar and Tape: A Nightmare Five-Hour Ordeal

41-year-old Bo Yang turned up uninvited at the victim’s house just after 11pm on April 15. What started as a conversation spiralled into terror. After a money dispute, Yang pulled out a knife and forced the woman beside a bed. He ripped at her clothes, but this was only the beginning.

Yang then savagely beat her with a metal bar, before raping and sexually assaulting her. He tied her up with rope and tape, even wrapping some around her head. In a chilling final move, Yang slashed the victim with his knife.

Greedy and Callous: Theft and Botched Phone Hack

Not done yet, Yang robbed the victim of cash and bank cards from her purse. He even tried to hack her phone’s facial recognition to funnel money into his own account.

Thankfully, the victim escaped when Yang looked away. She ran to neighbours who called the police at 3.46am — ending a nightmare that lasted five long hours.

Forensics and Tech Nail the Culprit

CCTV footage and fingerprints on the tape led cops straight to Yang. Lancashire police also cracked open ‘We Chat’ data — the Chinese equivalent of WhatsApp — finding key evidence.

Yang, from Winn Grove, Sheffield, was arrested and charged with rape, sexual assault, robbery, actual bodily harm, and possessing a blade.

The jury at Preston Crown Court found him guilty on all counts. He stays behind bars and faces sentencing on 6th February.
