Ex-Footballer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas Busted Trying to Smuggle £600K of Weed Into UK
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas Caught in Major Cannabis Smuggling Plot
Former pro footballer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has admitted to masterminding a £600,000 cannabis smuggling racket. The ex-Arsenal and Bristol City star recruited two women—his girlfriend Yasmin Piotrowska and her mate Rosie Rowland—to jet to Thailand and sneak the drugs back to Britain.
Women Nabbed at Stansted with 60kg of Cannabis
Border Force officers stopped Yasmin and Rosie at Stansted Airport, searching four suitcases packed with 60 kilograms of cannabis. This wasn’t a one-off; investigators found they’d made a near-identical trip months earlier, funded by Emmanuel-Thomas and sweetened with a £2,500 payment promise.
“This case shows the lengths organised criminals will go, and the influential roles public figures may play in serious crime,” said a National Crime Agency spokesperson.
Legal Drama Unfolds for Footballer and His Crew
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who played for Arsenal, Ipswich Town, and Bristol City, now faces sentencing. Yasmin Piotrowska and Rosie Rowland are also in legal hot water, with court proceedings underway.
The NCA lauded Border Force officers for their swift action in stopping the drugs before hitting UK streets.
