Maidstone Cops Crack Down on Supermarket Shoplifters
Police in Maidstone have smashed a gang stealing hundreds of pounds worth of groceries from local supermarkets. This tough action is part of a wider bid to stamp out a rising tide of shop theft across the town.
Three Arrested Over Massive Theft Spree
- Darren Turpin, 55, of Marsham Street, was nabbed on Monday, 5 February, at 123 Magistrates’ Court and is now behind bars on remand.
- Sharna Steady, 33, from Mangravet Avenue, admitted guilt on three counts of theft at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 27 February.
- An unnamed suspect is also being probed for a string of shoplifting offences targeting Marks and Spencer in Eclipse Park during January. This suspect has been released on bail until 2 May as investigations continue.
Police Step Up Patrols to Protect Local Businesses
Chief Inspector Mark McLellan vowed the force will not tolerate thieves targeting Maidstone’s shops. We remain committed to protecting businesses in Maidstone from those who see them as easy pickings,” he said.
