Man Charged After Violent Disturbance in Dover
Police Called to Pencester Road Incident
Kent Police were scrambled to a property on Pencester Road, Dover, at 6.28pm on Thursday 4 April 2024. Reports surfaced that staff had been verbally abused and a sign was deliberately damaged.
Arrest Made After Officers Attacked
Officers arrived swiftly and detained a suspect. However, things escalated as the man allegedly assaulted two police officers following his arrest. One other man was also involved in the incident.
Douglas Charlesworth Faces Multiple Charges
The suspect, 39-year-old Douglas Charlesworth, who has no fixed address, was charged the very next day. His charges include:
- Criminal damage
- Two counts of assault on emergency workers
- Racially aggravated public order offence
- Two other public order offences
Remanded to Appear in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court
Charlesworth has been remanded in custody and is set to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 May 2024.
