Man Jailed Indefinitely Over Fatal Stabbing in Manchester
Stephen Owusu, 23, from Fallowfield, Manchester, has been given an indefinite hospital order after pleading guilty to manslaughter. He fatally stabbed his housemate, 42-year-old Thomas Murphy, on September 24, 2022.

The fatal attack took place in the terraced house they shared on Beverly Road. The Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team launched a full investigation following the tragedy.

“Thomas Murphy was a completely innocent victim, and the thoughts of the whole investigation team remain with his family, especially his two daughters and his parents,” said Senior Investigating Officer Phil Reade. “We understand that the outcome of today’s proceedings cannot bring Thomas back, and the impact of his death will stay with his loved ones forever.”
