Fraudster Sentenced for Preying on Elderly Woman

A 41-year-old man from Holyhead has been locked up for 13 months after swindling an elderly woman out of thousands.

Gavin Quarless Caught and Convicted

Gavin Quarless, of Bryngwran, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on March 21st, charged with acquiring criminal property.

He was arrested back in August 2020 after suspicious activity was spotted on the victim’s bank account. An investigation revealed Quarless had fraudulently taken £8,300 from the elderly woman.

Detective Inspector Speaks Out

“Today marks the end of a long investigation into a man who deceived and defrauded an elderly woman,” said Detective Inspector Richard Griffith.

“Sadly, the victim passed away before justice was served. My thoughts are with their family, and I hope Quarless’s sentencing brings them some closure.”
