Met Police officer sacked without warning after assault and death threats against woman he knew – all off duty.
PC Giovanni Mascia Fired Over Shocking Abuse
PC Giovanni Mascia, attached to the East Area Command Unit, has been booted out of the Metropolitan Police without notice. He was found guilty of assaulting a woman twice and threatening to kill her during incidents between August and November 2022.
The disciplinary panel revealed Mascia’s threats didn’t stop there. He also warned the victim he would destroy her property if she refused to speak with him. The panel ruled this was gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal.
Top Cop Slams ‘Disgraceful Behaviour’
Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell, of the East Area Command Unit, blasted Mascia’s actions:
“PC Mascia’s behaviour was disgraceful and fell far below the standards expected of Metropolitan Police officers. The panel found it amounted to gross misconduct, and he has been immediately dismissed.”
Lifetime Policing Ban For Mascia
Following his dismissal, Mascia is now on the College of Policing’s barred list. This means he is banned from ever working for any UK police force, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
The Metropolitan Police vow to maintain strict standards and continue cracking down hard on officers who betray the public’s trust.
