Kent Cops Nab Poachers in Lightning Raid
Kent police made a swift arrest after a tip-off about illegal poaching in Woolage Village on the night of Tuesday, 23 September 2025. The Rural Task Force swooped in fast to shut down the wildlife crime.
Public Calls Out ‘Lamping’ and Catapult Use
A vigilant member of the public dialled 999 at 9.47pm, reporting suspected poachers using “lamping” – shining bright lights to stun animals – and firing catapults on private land. Police took no chances and moved quickly.
Poachers Caught Red-Handed With Dead Pheasants
- Officers found the suspects and their vehicle just 20 minutes after the call.
- They approached quietly, with no sirens or flashing lights, to avoid alerting the criminals.
- A search revealed three catapults loaded with ball bearings, a large torch, two head torches, and six dead pheasants.
Two young men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on the spot. Both have since been bailed as investigations continue.
