Worthing Shoplifter Nabbed After £1,000 Crime Spree
A notorious thief has finally been locked up after a brazen £969 shoplifting spree across Worthing.
Serial Shoplifter Strikes Again
Jordan Thomson, 30, with no fixed address, was caught stealing just days after hitting several stores. His haul included batteries from Wilko, meat from Co-Op, and laundry detergent from Wilko again — all stolen between 2nd and 16th January.
Quick Identification Leads to Arrest
Staff at each shop recognised Thomson immediately due to his shady past. They reported him to police every time he struck, helping officers build a strong case.
Court Sends Clear Message
At Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 24 January, Thomson pleaded guilty to five theft charges. The judge sentenced him to 12 weeks behind bars.
PC Jamie Sanderson, from the Adur, Worthing & Horsham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Thomson is well known for previous shoplifting. Staff quickly identified him and reported incidents, allowing us to gather strong evidence. We worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure he was charged and remanded prior to court.”
“I urge businesses and the public to keep reporting crimes. The more tips we get, the better chance we have to put persistent shoplifters like Thomson away and protect our communities.”
