South London Man Charged with Double Murder
A 65-year-old man from South London has been charged with the murders of two women, as police step up the hunt for the body of a missing woman. Naomi Hunte, 41, was fatally stabbed at her home on Congleton Grove, Greenwich, on February 14 last year.
Suspect Arrested After Second Woman Goes Missing
Carl Cooper, who lives on Broadfield Road, Hither Green, was initially arrested four days after Naomi’s death but released under investigation. The case took a shocking twist when 29-year-old Fionna Holm vanished on June 29 this year. She was last seen nine days earlier at an off-license on Verdant Lane, Hither Green.
Police Link Cooper to Both Victims
Initially treated as a missing person probe, Fionna’s disappearance has now resulted in Cooper being charged with her murder alongside Naomi Hunte’s. Police say Cooper had ties to both women. Neighbours recall firefighters using axes to break into Naomi’s property, fearing her body had been left undiscovered for days.
Locals described Naomi as a quiet neighbour known to all. Some voiced fears over safety in Congleton Grove, calling it a “complete blind spot for police.”
Ongoing Search and Appeal for Information
Metropolitan Police are continuing their search for Fionna Holm’s body with investigations unfolding across South East London. Cooper’s arrest is a critical breakthrough in both tragic cases. Families of Naomi and Fionna have been updated and are receiving support from specialist officers.
