Eastleigh Pervert Caught After Month-Long Indecent Exposure Spree
Virendra Asharafi Lal, 42, from Eastleigh’s High Street, has pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent exposure. The shocking offences happened between September and October 2019 across Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford.
Spree Targeted Older Women Across Multiple Streets
Southampton Crown Court heard Lal kicked off his offending on 5 September when he exposed himself to a woman in Merdon Avenue. He didn’t stop there, continuing a month-long streak of indecent exposure on women aged 54 to 82 at various spots including Hiltingbury Road, Bradshaw Close, Oakmount Road, and Oakgrove Road.
Sentence Suspended but Sex Offender Restrictions Imposed
On Monday 19 April, Lal was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He must also register as a sex offender for 10 years, complete 31 sessions of an accredited programme, carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, and attend 10 rehabilitation days.
Police Praise Victims & Warn Communities
“I want to first praise the women who have come forward following this horrendous ordeal,” said Police Sergeant Mark Reynolds from Hampshire Constabulary.
“It cannot have been easy for them to re-live these incidents, which undoubtedly caused distress. While he has not been remanded in prison, I hope his registration as a sex offender and rehabilitation programme will bring some closure to the victims.
“Lal got away with these crimes for a time until we caught him and stopped him. This was a terribly intrusive crime, and we want communities across Hampshire to know offenders like Lal will face justice.”
