Massive Cannabis Grow Bust in Clifton
Police swooped on a property in Gardendale Avenue, Clifton, at 10am on Tuesday (14 March) after a tip-off from the public. Inside, officers uncovered a massive haul of 91 cannabis plants tucked away in one room.
Drugs Seized, Equipment Destroyed
The Nottingham City Centre Operation Reacher team, currently seconded to Clifton, confiscated all the drugs and dismantled the electrical gear powering the illegal grow. The equipment was put completely out of commission to stop any further danger.
Three Arrested and Charged
Hieu-Van Duong, 36, Luc Van Nguyen, 35, both with no fixed address, and Van Duc Ungiyen, 43, a local resident, faced Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (16 March). All three were charged with producing a Class B drug and remanded in custody.
Police Warn of Dangers & Urge Public to Speak Up
“We always take reports of cannabis production seriously as it can often be linked to wider, organised criminality,” said Police Constable Dave Myers of Nottinghamshire Police.
“These grows pose a huge risk due to dangerous electrical wiring and bypasses that can put nearby families in jeopardy.”
“We rely heavily on the public to inform us. Building trust with local communities is vital. I urge residents to keep reporting anything suspicious — the more info we get, the better we can fight organised crime.”
Since October 2020, Nottinghamshire Police has deployed 12 Operation Reacher teams, targeting community concerns, dismantling organised crime, and strengthening ties with residents.
