Tragic Tipton Blaze Claims Man and Family Dog
A devastating fire on Tame Road, Tipton, on Tuesday night (3 August) has claimed the life of 51-year-old Jason Hickinbottom and his beloved pet dog. Jason was confirmed dead at the scene following a fierce blaze that tore through his home.
Heroic Rescue Efforts Amid Fiery Inferno
The fire broke out around 8.10pm, quickly drawing emergency services. Two passing police officers were first on the scene and, along with neighbours, desperately tried to rescue those trapped inside.
Firefighters managed to pull a woman in her 30s from the burning property. She was rushed to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but is now in a stable condition.
Arrest Made in Fiery Case of Suspected Arson
An 18-year-old woman, believed to know both victims, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. She has since been released on bail as investigations continue.

“There are no words that our family can use to describe the sadness and grief we feel at this time,” said Jason’s family.
Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, leading the probe, said: “This was a traumatic situation for so many people, including neighbours and emergency services. We’re grateful for the ongoing support and understanding from the community.”
“Our priority now is to support the victim’s family and get to the bottom of what happened,” added DI Jobson.
