Young PC Dies After Horrific Crash in Northamptonshire

Tragedy struck Northamptonshire as 24-year-old PC Faizaan Najeeb died a week after a terrifying road crash. The young officer was critically injured while responding to a single-vehicle collision. He was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge following a collision involving a blue VW Polo. Sadly, PC Najeeb passed away on Friday, leaving the community in shock.

Man Arrested as Police Launch Serious Crash Inquiry

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and has now been bailed pending further investigations. Northamptonshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is spearheading the probe into the fatal crash. PC Najeeb, who joined the force in 2022, was a committed member of the response team based in Wellingborough.

Tributes Flood In for Fallen Officer

The police have announced PC Najeeb’s collar number, P1967, will be retired as a mark of respect. A two-minute silence will be held at the force’s HQ in Wootton next week, and the flag flies at half-mast in honour of the brave officer.

“Words cannot describe the sadness felt when an officer loses his life serving in the line of duty,” said Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet. “The entire Northamptonshire Police family wish to pass on our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this truly awful point in time.”

Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone added: “PC Najeeb’s death is a terrible reminder of the risks police officers face daily. My deepest condolences go to his family, friends, and colleagues. His loss will leave a huge impact on the force.”

Specialist family liaison officers are providing ongoing support to PC Najeeb’s family. Meanwhile, an internal health and safety investigation has been launched. The local community and police force remain united in grief over the loss of a courageous officer who made the ultimate sacrifice.
