Woman Found Dead with Neck Injuries
Valerie Freer, 68, was pronounced dead at her Whittington home driveway around 10.42am on Thursday, 24 February. Paramedics confirmed she had suffered fatal neck injuries. A post-mortem has confirmed these injuries caused her death.
Man Arrested, Now Receiving Medical Treatment
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently undergoing medical treatment and will be questioned once fit. Police say this murder may be linked to a series of suspicious incidents in the area since early February, including two aggravated burglaries.
Police Urge Public for More Information
Detective Inspector Ian Fitzgerald said: “I want to thank the Whittington community for their patience and support during this difficult time. The information received about a red Peugeot vehicle has been crucial. However, if anyone saw anything unusual before Valerie’s death, please come forward immediately.”
Increased Patrols and Community Support
Local Policing Commander, Inspector Karen Green, added: “Our thoughts are with Valerie’s family and the whole Whittington community. We understand how upsetting this is.
