Body Found Near Kidbrooke Park Community Centre

Police were called at 5.32pm on Saturday, 18 September after a woman’s body was discovered near the OneSpace community centre in Cator Park, Kidbrooke Park Road, SE3.

She has been identified as 28-year-old Sabina Nessa from Kidbrooke.

Post-Mortem Inconclusive, Investigation Ongoing

A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary on Monday, 20 September was inconclusive. Sabina’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Joe Garrity, leading the investigation, said:

“Our initial enquiries suggest the attack happened around 8.30pm on Friday, 17 September, when the park was likely busy with joggers and dog walkers. Sabina was found near the community centre, a popular local spot.

We urge anyone who was in the area to come forward. Did you see anyone acting suspiciously or leaving in a hurry? Your information is vital to help us deliver justice.”

Extra Patrols and Community Support Underway

Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, responsible for Greenwich policing, said:

“Our thoughts are with Sabina’s family and friends at this tragic time. We will continue to support them fully as the investigation continues.

The community may feel unsettled; in response, extra high-visibility patrols will be deployed around the crime scene and across Lewisham and Greenwich in the coming days.

We are working closely with local authorities to keep everyone safe.”

Man Arrested and Released Under Investigation

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue. Multiple crime scenes remain active as police piece together what happened.
