Grandad, 80s, Left Fighting for Life After Horror Crash in North Common
An elderly man in his 80s was severely injured after being struck by a white Ford Transit van outside Budgens on Victoria Road, North Common. The shocking collision happened just after 8.20am this Thursday morning.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene of Serious Incident
Emergency services launched a massive response. The Great Western Air Ambulance and South Western Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) arrived swiftly. Paramedics fought to save the man’s life, providing critical treatment on the road. Meanwhile, police sealed off the area to keep pedestrians and vehicles away.
Victim in Life-Threatening Condition as Police Launch Appeal
After stabilising the victim, medics rushed him by ambulance—escorted by police—to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed he remains in a life-threatening state.
Forensic teams are combing the scene for evidence. Police are urgently seeking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
