Jet Ski and RIB Crash Near Brighton Pier: Woman Injured
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
This afternoon, chaos hit the waters just south of Brighton Palace Pier. A Jet Ski and a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) collided, leaving a female Jet Ski rider injured. Brighton Lifeboat and Brighton Beach Rescue Boat were quick on the scene.
Air Rescue and Coastguard Join the Effort
The Lydd coastguard rescue helicopter was scrambled. A medic was winched down to provide urgent aid. Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguards also arrived to help stabilise the situation.
Casualty Rushed to Hospital
The injured woman was taken to Brighton Marina before being transferred by ambulance to hospital, with coastguard support. The coastguard helicopter remained on standby at the Brighton landing site until the medic was safely on the ground, then departed around 5:20pm.
Accident Confirmed, Police Say
Just before 3:30pm, a jet ski and a rigid inflatable boat collided near Brighton Palace Pier, injuring the woman on the jet ski,” said a Sussex Police spokesman. “Emergency services responded quickly, and the woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
“The occupants of both vessels are believed to know each other, and the collision is being treated as an accident.”
