Essex Cop Dragged Along Road by Rogue Motorbike Ahead of Christmas

An Essex police officer faces a painful Christmas after being violently dragged along a road by a motorbike while attempting to speak to its rider.

Off-Road Bike Flees, Dragging Officer Along Road

The incident happened at 1.55pm on Station Road, Takeley, near Bishop’s Stortford. The officer had pulled over an off-road motorcycle when the rider suddenly sped off, dragging the officer a short but brutal distance.

Officer Hospitalised, Forced to Miss Christmas

The injured officer was rushed to hospital and is now recovering at home. Essex Police Federation chair Laura Heggie confirmed the officer remains in significant pain and will be off work for an extended period.

“This motorcyclist had time to consider their options and made the call to ride off, dragging the officer along the ground and leaving him in a heap. They knew they were hurting another human being,” said Heggie.

“How can you do that to someone? He was just doing his job and now can’t enjoy Christmas with his family. It’s totally unacceptable.”

“I hope the rider comes forward and does the right thing by contacting the police.”

Community Urged to Help Find Motorcyclist

Police are appealing for witnesses and information as they continue to hunt the motorbike rider who left the officer injured and unable to work.
