Police Smash Eastern European Slavery Gang Across London and Essex
Early on Tuesday, February 9, police swooped on multiple addresses in Harrow, Romford, Hayes, Forest Gate, and Harlow in Essex. The raids, backed by the Territorial Support Group (TSG), targeted an organised crime gang suspected of trafficking and enslaving vulnerable people.
Five Arrested Over Slavery and Human Trafficking
Officers arrested suspects aged between 30 and 55 for alleged crimes including holding people in slavery, human trafficking, controlling prostitution, and money laundering. One Hayes address was identified as a brothel during the raids.
Investigation Targets Eastern European Crime Network
The crackdown focuses on an eastern European Organised Crime Group believed to be exploiting victims brought to the UK from Poland. Police continue searching properties and pursuing leads as the probe unfolds.

“This investigation will continue as we uncover the full scale of this illegal operation,” said Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy from Central Specialist Crime.
“Modern slavery still plagues London and the UK. Our teams work round the clock to identify traffickers and protect hundreds of victims annually.
“The public plays a vital role. If you suspect someone is a victim of modern slavery, report it immediately — you will be taken seriously and help is available.”
“Victims often don’t see themselves as such and are coerced into exploitation to make money for criminal networks. Slavery touches every London borough, hidden in plain sight—from brothels to car washes, nail bars, and even cannabis farms.”
