Begging and Shoplifting Banned: Nottingham Man Hit With Five-Year Criminal Behaviour Order
Leigham Myers, 34, has been slapped with a tough Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after racking up 16 shop thefts and six counts of begging. He was sentenced in January at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court to 16 weeks in jail—suspended for 12 months.
Ban Zones: No McDonald’s, KFC, or Clifton Shops for Myers
Myers, from Wilkins Gardens, Clifton, is now barred from approaching McDonald’s, KFC, and 1 Clifton Lane. He must also stay clear of Clifton Triangle retail park and Southchurch Drive shops. The CBO lasts five years, letting police swoop immediately if he breaks the rules.
Police Crackdown After Complaints From Locals
PC Ben Hemstock from the Clifton neighbourhood team said, “Myers has been repeatedly warned about his behaviour in the Clifton area. His actions impact residents and businesses, and sometimes he has been aggressive.”
He added, “Myers often begged to customers stuck in the McDonald’s drive-thru, leaving some feeling intimidated with no way to drive off. This order allows us to arrest him straight away if he breaches it, giving locals some much-needed relief.”
Local Police Praise Team Effort to Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
Inspector Steve Dalby, district commander for City South, praised the hard work behind the order. “Thanks to PC Hemstock and the community protection team, we’re aiming to make Clifton safer and more pleasant for everyone to live, work, and shop.”
