A 52-year-old man has died after a violent scuffle inside a Co-op in Torpoint, Cornwall. The drama unfolded at around 4.45pm last Wednesday (6 August) in the Fore Street store, where the man reportedly assaulted staff and abused customers.
Chaos at Torpoint Co-op
Police were called to the scene amid the disturbance. During the chaos, the man was pinned down by another customer to prevent further trouble. He soon became unresponsive and was rushed to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where he later died on Saturday (9 August).
Suspect Arrested and Bailed
A man in his 40s from nearby Millbrook was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed until 1 November while inquiries continue.
Police Hunt Witnesses
Devon and Cornwall Police are treating the incident as a live investigation. They urge anyone who witnessed the event or has footage to come forward.
“This is a live and active investigation. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has mobile phone footage from the scene.”
